  • Lactose Bile Medium

SPECIFICATION

Product specification: 250g/bottle
Shelf life: three years
Purpose: Used for the determination of fecal coliforms in drinking water and its source water.

Composition (g/L):
Polyvalent peptone 5.0g
Tryptone 10.0g
Lactose 12.5g
Yeast powder 3.0g
No.3 bile salt 1.5g
Sodium chloride 5.0g
Aniline blue 0.2g
Agar 15.0g
Rose red acid 0.1g
PH value 7.4 ± 0.2

Inspection principle:
Tryptone, peptone, and yeast extract powder provide nitrogen sources, vitamins, and growth factors; Sodium chloride maintains a balanced osmotic pressure; Lactose is a fermentable sugar; No. 3 bile salt inhibits Gram positive bacteria; Agar is a coagulant for the culture medium; Rose acid and aniline blue are pH indicators.
The fecal coliform group can decompose lactose to produce acid at 44.5 ℃, causing a decrease in the pH of the culture medium. The colony is bright blue, while other non lactose fermenting gut bacteria are colorless, gray, or light red.

Usage:
Weigh 52.3 grams of this product, heat and boil to dissolve in 1000ml of distilled water, cool to 45-50 ℃, and pour into a sterile plate. No need for high-pressure sterilization.
